UBC Campus Energy Centre short listed for the 2017 AIBC Architectural Awards

The University of British Columbia’s Campus Energy Centre (CEC) is a state-of-the-art hot water boiler facility that provides the heating requirements for UBC’s Vancouver campus. The CEC, along with the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre, was short listed for the 2017 AIBC Architectural Awards.

Canadian Architect, the official magazine of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada,  notes that “[The architects’] …selective use of different panel types enlivens the building’s simple volume by the play of light across and through the shroud.”

The project was lead by Energy & Water Services and Infrastructure Development. Winners will be announced  at the AIBC Ceremony on May 10.
